Tips for New Users of the Fanvil X4 Enterprise IP Phones on 3CX

If you are new to the Fanvil X4 Enterprise IP Phone and are using the 3CX Platform by IT Norwich, these are the things you’ll probably need to learn how to do first:

Attended Call Transfer (Also called cold transfers)

An attended call transfer is where you have the opportunity to speak to the person the call is intended for (such as a colleague) before you transfer the call. In this way you can see if the person you want to transfer the call to is present or if he or she wants to decline the transfer. This is the process once an inbound call is answered:

  • Press XFER so the caller is put on hold.
  • Dial the desired extension number and press DIAL.
  • If your colleague confirms he or she is  happy to receive the call then press XFER again and put down the receiver,
  • If your colleague does not want to receive the call, press Exit so you are returned to the caller.

Blind Call Transfer (Also called warm transfers)

A blind call transfer is where you transfer a call to a colleague without seeing if your colleague wants to take the call or is even present. In this way the caller will either get to speak to the person they want or can leave a message for them if the system is set up to cater for this. This is the process once an inbound call is answered:

  • Press XFER so the caller is put on hold.
  • Dial the desired extension number and press XFER.

Conference Calling

A conference call (where more than two parties can be on the same call) is possible. This is the process once an inbound call is answered:

  • Press CONF so the caller is put on hold.
  • Dial the desired extension number and press DIAL.
  • Once the other person answers, press CONF  again – all three people should then be in a conference call.

Accessing the Contacts Address Book

If your system is supported by us then the chances are we will have imported your organisations contacts into the 3CX system; these will be accessible to you so you can look up numbers and make calls more easily. This is the process from the phone:

  • Press the DIR button.
  • Press the Enter or the OK button.
  • The 3CX Contacts List is displayed.
  • Navigate up and down with the arrow keys or use the keypad to search for contacts, remembering to press each button multiple lines for a given letter of the alphabet.
  • Press DIAL to call the contact or press OK to view more information about the contact.

Restarting the Phone

From time to time it may necessary to restart your phone, either yo receive updates to the phone or its address book or to resolve some other problem. This is the process from the phone:

  • Press the MENU button.
  • Press the number 8 so the Reboot Now? message is displayed.
  • Press the YES button to reboot the phone.
